| If you want to succeed, meet Chuck Taylor. Chuck Taylor is an achiever. He wants certain things in life. Instead of lying dormant in his room everyday after school or swaying in his hammock with a cold drink during the lazy-hazy days of summer, he is doing something about it. And he has made some progress. Although he has not acquired everything on his list of wants, he has acquired enough to make him content for the moment. His friends will attest to that. Compared to Chuck, they are not even close to fulfilling their quota on their list of wants. Do they remind you of you? And Does Chuck remind you of someone who seems to have the Midas Touch? If so, this book will tell you how Chuck did it. You will learn: how to do what Chuck did even while you are still in school. how to play the game. how to develop a plan of action. how to earn money. how to protect the things that you buy with your money. how to use credit wisely. ...and much more. A Bit About the Credit Counselling Service of Toronto The authors of How Chuck Taylor Got What He Wanted are part of the Credit Counselling Service of Toronto. It is a nonprofit community service organization, and your purchase of this book is a donation to ensure the viability of their important service. There was a time when, if a person got too deep into debt, there was no place to turn except to the trustees and the bankruptcy court. That time was before the concept of a non-profit Credit Counselling Service which came to life over 30 years ago. Today, there is personal nonprofit help available throughout Canada. There are more than 2 dozen autonomous CCS offices in Ontario. Autonomous means that each is a separate corporation with its own board of directors. All share a common mission: money management and credit counselling, Debt Management Programs for those with serious financial problems, and educational programs teaching and promoting the responsible use of credit. These CCS offices are able to play a beneficial role because: Most people who experience financial difficulty are honest and want to repay their debts. The creditors they owe are responsible business people. They much prefer to see their customers get help and will cooperate with and financially support the non-profit CCS services. CCS services are independent, neutral third-parties, and thus are able to work with all concerned to reach common goals. Even though most people seen by CCS are financially overobligated, they have incomes and are not destitute. Although they may be in trouble, there is usually income to work with. By tailoring and administering a realistic, disciplined budget and obtaining the cooperation of creditors, the debts gradually can be repaid.
